For trading Platinum on eToro, first ensure you're logged in or register for an account. Head to the "Discover" tab, pick "Commodities", and find "Copper". Select to "BUY" or "SELL", specify your trade volume or units, customize your trade settings, and click "Open Trade".

Trade Copper!

51% of retail investor accounts lose money when trading CFDs with this provider. You should consider whether you can afford to take the high risk of losing your money.

When I first ventured into online trading, eToro stood out among all platforms. Not only for its user interface but the myriad of investment opportunities it provided. I became particularly intrigued with commodities, especially copper.

My fascination with copper began when I learned of its nickname, 'Dr. Copper', due to its predictive qualities for the global economy. I studied its applications in industries like construction and electronics and monitored its price movements, which were influenced by various global events.

Here, I am going to share the basic steps of investing in this commodity via this online trading platform. Do take note that this process is just the same for using the eToro app or the web version:

Part 1: Setting up an Account

The registration process with this broker was seamless for me. Take note that in order to proceed with the next steps, you need to have an account first and if you already have one, then just log in.

Part 2: Searching for Copper

With my account set up, I keyed in “copper” in the search bar. I was presented with futures, CFDs, and ETFs. Based on my research and risk appetite, I gravitated towards eToro CFDs.

Part 3: Buy or Sell Copper?

Placing my first eToro copper order was a mix of excitement and caution. This is the crucial part as I had to decide whether if I'll go for a Buy or a Sell.

Part 4: Setting the Parameters

Now that I've decided on the position, the next part is setting these investment parameters and tools:

  • Ordering: I carefully chose the amount, keeping in mind my budget and the current market conditions. Keep in mind that the minimum investment size for eToro commodities is $1,000.
  • Safety Measures: Based on my mentor's advice, I never skipped setting a stop-loss or take-profit point, even if it was tempting.
  • Leverage: Initially, I avoided leverage due to the risks. But as I gained experience, I started using it sparingly, fully aware of its implications.

Part 5: Execution Time!

The last part is hitting the blue "Open Trade" button to execute the order. But before clicking on this, I suggest that you review all the trade parameters first before finally setting it. And that's it, you're done.

Tip: Check the Fees and Charges

Over time, I realized the importance of understanding the fee structure although based on experience, the eToro fees are pretty transparent. I made it a habit to check the “Fees” section, ensuring no surprises at the end of a trade.

In Restrospect

My journey with investing in copper on eToro has been enlightening and profitable. My advice to fellow traders is to always stay informed, seek guidance when needed, and never let emotions dictate your decisions.
