Background and Expertise

Education

After finishing High School in Sankt Annæ Gymnasium, Christian Jain Kongsted took up and finished a Journalism degree at Danmarks Journalisthøjskole (Danish School of Media and Journalism).

Career History

Before becoming one of eToro's most copied investor, Kongsted charted a background as a journalist and as a book author who wrote a number of books about Computer Chess — based on his years as a Danish Chess Champion. "How to Use Computers to Improve Your Chess" was among his best-selling books.

He is also a former Danish Champion in the game of Scrabble. Other than that, he also developed a deep interest in technology and eventually, in investing to which he is now a seasoned veteran with over 15 years of experience.

Wanting to expand his eToro success, Kongsted founded the trading companies daytrader.dk and invested.dk. He also co-authored the book "DAYTRADER" as a means of giving back to the trading community by sharing his knowledge about exploring earning potential in the market.

Trading in eToro

An eToro user and investor since 2017, Christian Jain Kongsted didn’t just stumble on a trading strategy that works by accident. He did it by combing through his knowledge amassed through years of scrutinizing patterns, probabilities and learning the financial market.

Performance Snapshot: How CPHequities Stacks Up

Christian’s 2024 portfolio is up 17.21%—a solid return that underscores his methodical technique. His investments are heavily tech-focused, with exposure to:

  • Technology Services
  • Electronic Technology
  • ETFs
  • Health Technology
  • Finance

Kongsted's Trading Strategy

Christian’s method isn’t about chasing trends or making impulsive moves. Instead, he combines diversification, long-term mega trends, and momentum trading to improve his portfolio.

1. Diversification: Spreading the Risk, Making the Most Potential

His portfolio spans 50+ companies across multiple sectors and regions for a balanced risk-reward profile. No overreliance on a single stock or industry—just smart, strategic allocation.

2. Mega Trends: Investing in the Future

Christian hones in on high-growth sectors that define the next decade, including:

  • Digitalization
  • Artificial Intelligence
  • Cloud Computing
  • Semiconductors
  • Cybersecurity

These aren’t short-term fads—they’re leading future innovation and growth.

3. Momentum Trading: Short-Term Opportunities, Long-Term Gains

Christian doesn’t just sit on his investments—he plays the momentum game. Some positions are held for just days or weeks, allowing him to capitalize on market swings while maintaining a disciplined long-term core strategy.

And he’s strict about risk: No single position exceeds 6% of the total portfolio, and if a stock drops 10-20%, it’s reassessed—no emotional attachment, just data-backed decisions.
