If you're unable to trade Contracts for Difference (CFDs) on eToro, it's possible that it's due to one of the following reasons:

1. You Didn’t Pass eToro’s Experience Check

Before unlocking CFDs, eToro asks a few questions to make sure you know what you’re doing. If you didn’t score high enough on their ‘Experience and Objectives’ questionnaire, maybe you marked low risk tolerance or limited trading history. In this case, CFDs will be off-limits.

How to fix it

Update your profile: Head to your settings, find the questionnaire, and review your answers. Make sure they reflect your actual trading experience.

2. Your Country Blocks CFDs

Some regions and countries like the US simply don’t allow CFD trading due to local laws. If you’re in one of those countries, eToro won’t let you access them.

How to fix it

Check the list: Go to eToro’s help center and look up the countries where CFDs are restricted. If yours is there, it’s a regulatory wall, not an account issue.

3. There’s a Problem With Your Account

If your account’s flagged (for verification issues, compliance checks, or something else), CFD access might be temporarily locked.

How to fix it

Talk to support: Open a ticket with eToro. Ask if there are any account-level restrictions and what steps you need to take to clear them.

If you’ve double-checked your profile, confirmed your region allows CFDs, and still can’t trade, the best move is to contact support. They’ll tell you exactly what’s going on and how to fix it. I personally prefer getting in touch with them via live chat since this channel is available 24/7.
