Transferring funds from your eToro account to an external wallet involves moving supported cryptocurrencies from the eToro trading account to the eToro crypto wallet. This process allows you to manage your crypto assets outside of eToro's main platform.

Here’s everything you need to know to complete the transfer smoothly:

1. Confirm You're Eligible for Transfers

Not every crypto asset on eToro is transferable. If you purchased cryptocurrency via contracts for difference (CFDs), those assets are locked to the trading account and cannot be withdrawn.

Another important factor? Your location. eToro’s crypto transfer feature is not available in all countries. Before getting started, double-check eToro’s official guidelines to confirm your eligibility.

2. Set Up the eToro Money Crypto Wallet

eToro requires you to transfer funds through its eToro Money app, which acts as an intermediary crypto wallet. Here’s how to get started:

  • Download & Install: Available for iOS and Android, the eToro Money app is free to download.
  • Log In: Use your existing eToro credentials. It's the same username/email and password that you're using for your trading account.
  • Verify Your Wallet: Some users may need to complete additional security checks before transfers are enabled.

Once activated, your wallet is ready to receive crypto from your eToro trading account.

3. Initiate the Transfer from eToro

Now that your wallet is set up, it’s time to move your crypto:

  • Open the eToro platform (web or mobile app) and access your holdings.
  • Choose the cryptocurrency you want to transfer.
  • Look for ‘Transfer to Wallet’. If this option is available, you’ll see it when you click on the trade. If it’s missing, that means the asset isn’t eligible for transfer.
  • Enter how much you’d like to transfer and finalize the request.

At this point, the transaction is on its way.

4. Wait for Transfer Completion

Crypto transfers don’t happen instantly. Depending on network conditions and security checks, transfers can take anywhere from a few minutes to several days.

💡 Heads-up: eToro charges a transfer fee, which varies based on the cryptocurrency. The exact amount will be displayed before you confirm the transaction.

5. Access Your Funds in the eToro Money Wallet

Once the transfer is complete, the cryptocurrency will show up in your eToro Money wallet balance. From here, you can:

  • Move your crypto to a hardware wallet or another exchange.
  • Accept transfers from external sources.
  • Convert between supported cryptocurrencies directly in the wallet.

Some tips before you make that transfer

  • Double-check wallet addresses before confirming any transaction. A small typo could result in lost funds. I almost transferred a huge amount to wrong address so be sure to check it multiple times before sending.
  • Activate 2FA on both your eToro trading account and the eToro Money app for an added layer of security. It only takes an additional 1 minute or so when using this feature so I highly recommend that you turn it on.
  • Crypto regulations and eToro’s transfer policies can change. Regularly check eToro’s official communications to stay informed.
