If you want to trade index CFDs on eToro, you’ll need at least $1,000 per trade. That’s the minimum trade size. It’s consistent across all index CFDs (think S&P 500, NASDAQ 100, or FTSE 100) on the platform.

Minimum Trade vs. Minimum Deposit

Here’s where things often get mixed up. The minimum trade size isn’t the same as the minimum deposit.

Let’s discuss this quickly:

  • Trade size for indices: $1,000 (non-negotiable)
  • Account funding minimum: Depends on where you’re based and how you’re paying. In the US? You’re looking at a $50 minimum deposit. Other regions? It varies.

So, yes, you might be able to fund your account with $50, but you won’t be placing index trades until you’ve got enough in your balance to meet that $1,000 trade requirement.

Quick Note on Overnight Fees

Thinking of holding your position overnight? Heads up: overnight fees apply. These are standard for CFD positions and change based on a few things:

  • The index you’re trading
  • Market conditions
  • Holding time

It’s not a dealbreaker, but you’ll want to factor these costs into your strategy.

While this info I shared reflects the most recent platform setup, eToro’s policies can actually change at any time. So before you hit that “Trade” button, check the latest terms directly on their platform or reach out to their support team.
